Mobile loading screw conveyors are used to load grain and similar products onto vehicles or stack them at a higher level. They can be manufactured as mobile units or without wheels for stationary use. Depending on the overall machine length, the loading height can be adjusted to the required level by a steel-wire-rope pulley system. Standard lengths are 6, 7, 8, 10 and 12 metres. The system is driven by a three-phase or single-phase electric motor. It can optionally be manufactured for operation from a tractor power take-off via a shaft or from a diesel engine. Screw tube diameters range from 4 in (115 mm) to 12 in (320 mm). Mobile screws can be attached to various agricultural machines or the rear of a truck using special fittings and can be moved over short distances.
As the screw flights rotate, they draw the product in through the intake at the rear of the pipe and convey it to the required location for transport, loading or stacking through the discharge outlet at the front.
